This is such a yummy, healthy spread to put on toast or biscuits in the morning. Use up some seasonal pears in contrast to the traditional apple butter. After you peel and dice you let the crock pot take over all of the hard work. So yummy.
16 pears, peeled, cored and diced
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients in a crock pot, stir well and cook on low 7-8 hours (or overnight). Once cooked through, strain pears of excess juice and blend in a blender or food processor. Store in jars in the freezer for 6 months or the fridge for 2 weeks. Enjoy!
