Greek Burgers

July 17, 2012

We love Greek food around here and take every opportunity we can to add greek flavors to our menu. This is a fun and easy way to do just that. Also, I love that even though you might normally like mayonaisse on your burger, the greek yogurt easily takes the place of it without losing any flavor while saving you some fat and calories.

Ingredients
1 lb ground sirloin
1 tsp msg free Cavender’s seasoning
7 0z plain greek yogurt (the size of a single cup), divided
4 tablespoons tablespoons feta cheese, divided
1 clove garlic, pressed or minced
1 tsp white vinegar
salt/pepper to taste
lettuce, tomato and cucumber  slices (optional)
bread/buns of choice

In a bowl mix ground sirloin, 2 tablespoons feta, 2 tablespoons greek yogurt and cavender’s seasoning, form 6 patties.

Next, make your greek yogurt sauce: In a seperate bowl combine remaining greek yogurt, feta cheese, 1 garlic clove, 1 tsp vinegar, cucumber and season salt/pepper to taste and set aside. Grill burgers to desired doneness, top with greek yogurt sauce, tomato slices, lettuce, etc. Serve and enjoy!

I love to make turkey burgers with Feta cheese, red onion and spinach in them (frozen, thawed and sqeezed dry) - they are SO good. Of course, the Cavender’s just makes it perfect. Yum, now I am craving one!
