If you haven’t yet, you need to start making your own seasonings at home. You most likely have all of the ingredients in your cabinet and you will love the ease of this recipe! Not only are you leaving out any preservatives or random ingredients, but you can control the intensity of flavor as well as the salt level. I’ve found 3 tablespoons of this mixture combined with either a few tablespoons of water or (my personal preference) and 8 oz can of tomato sauce makes absolutely perfect and delicious taco meat.
Ingredients
4 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp oregano
1 tablespooon paprika
2 teaspoons coriander
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (you can sub regular black better or decrease for mild)
In a glass jar, with lid, combine all ingredients and shake well. Store with lid on in a cool dry place for up to 3 months. Three tablespoons is the equivalent of one taco seasoning packet per pound of meat.
Three tablespoons is what works for us – free free to adjust amount for desired intensity and flavor.
